Undertaken by Dr. Francesco Bollorino, reviewer for
VideoHiFi and investigator for the Department of Neuroscience at
the University of Genoa in Italy, the review was conducted with
exacting scientific experimental procedures. After assembling a
collection of some of the finest cables in the world, Dr. Bollorino
spent more than 1 year listening to the differences between cables.
Carefully assembling results that numerically ranked 8 different
sonic attributes, a score was developed for every cable tested.
In terms of sound quality, on a scale of +40 to -40, the ANJOU Interconnect
received a score of +39, making it the highest scoring interconnect.
Dr. Bollorino had this to say about the performance
of the cable (translated from Italian): "The Anjou RCA interconnects
deliver a soundstage rich in ambient information, deep, dimensionally
proportioned with an extreme realism, with the instruments and musicians
standing out like sculptures in a virtual window.
The bass is deep and very well controlled, the mid is sweet and
natural with the voice warm and rich in harmonics, the high is brilliant
but never annoying."
The sonic performance does not come without a price.
The ANJOU interconnect did lose points in a separate category that
considered ease of use, due to its stiffness. "This cable was
designed with performance in mind. Nothing else mattered. The resulting
cable is certainly stiff and must be handled with care, but if you
want the best performance you cannot worry about things like that,"
said Adam Blake, designer of the ANJOU interconnect.
