What's In a Name?

We get a lot of questions from people wanting to know where the name Pear Cable came from. Because it is not immediately obvious it is probably worth a few words of explanation.

In choosing a name for the company, we wanted to pick something that embodied the core philosophies on music and our products. Though Pear Cable products are based on state-of-the art science and technology, audio cables should never sound edgy, harsh or technical. Audio cables should produce a sound that is true to the originating musical instruments, sounding as organic and natural as possible. Therefore, we felt something ‘natural’ would be an appropriate symbol to embody that philosophy.

In addition, we feel that the human experience is an important part of the overall enjoyment of the product. We recognize that being sensitive to the human (or

‘receiving’) side of the equation is just as important as understanding the source. Therefore, a ‘pear’ seemed an appropriate symbol since it combines the ‘natural’ element with the human ‘receiver’ (or ‘ear’).

Finally, as cables are frequently sold by the pair, Pear Cables seemed to have an appropriate ring to it! We hope you agree.
